Storm Haven is the flagship estate vineyard . The stunning site is biodiverse, perched on the outflow from a mountain pass, and nestled at the base of Peachcliff Mountain, mixing soils from gravelled Gibson Block and shattered slate of Golddigger Block. It’s easily one of BC’s best vineyard sites.
Low intervention in the vineyard and winery combines with fruit picked in stages to best express the site. The 2021 Storm Haven Riesling returns to the white label (vs the blue labels of the home site GG wines) and shows juicy pear, honeysuckle, honey crisp and green apples, subtle anise, wild desert scrub all lit with a vibrant shimmering acidity. The finish closes off with a lime pith / ginger grip and lingering stoniness.
Lovely complexity here, as ever, and drinking beautifully now and with time ahead.
